Manifesting a Healthy Relationship: The Beginning

Buckle up this might seem like a partner in crime appreciation post but it's much more than that. It's about healthy relationships with others (family, friends, spouses...) and most importantly ourselves.



David and I met in Toulouse. We hang out for 24 hours. We talked about our values, where we saw ourselves in 10 years, things that were off the table, our weaknesses, our strengths... And for the first time I had the most honest and powerful conversation I’ve ever had. It was love.



But you know what?

It wasn’t luck. The truth to be told, we put the work on ourselves to make this happen long before we ever met.


It took both of us years of exploration, analysis, trial and error to gather the knowledge, experience and tools that eventually will help us be ready for each other.



You can’t change people or get a magical wand that will bring a perfect person. The only thing we can really work on is ourself.


First

We need to have a positive and healthy relationship with ourselves because our relationship with others is a reflection of the relationship we have with ourself. If you are kind to yourself you will look for people who are also kind to you. And viceversa.


Secondly

We must have a clear vision of our values. Values are what we are and why we act. Understanding what motivates us is key to check if we share values with our potential friends, employer and partner. See how many successful friendships you have that don’t share at least half of the values you also have? Without these shared values there’s no space for growth, sustainability or future together.


Third

We need to start creating a picture of our future self. The other day I posted a video on Instagram about visualization and how it helps athletes to improve their performance and win! A similar principle applies to this. And remember to write it down. Because what we don’t record will not happen.
