Beginners guide to affirmations

In simple terms, empowering beliefs are positive phrases or statements used to challenge limiting beliefs or unhelpful thoughts.


Olympic athletes, successful business people and creatives have figured out that using “willpower” to boost their success sometimes is not enough.


...And that’s where affirmations come along.



This is how I create my own powerful affirmations that will help me unlock new thinking patterns, boost my confidence n motivation everyday and ultimately encourages me to make positive changes.


So besides having a positive statement, what else do we need to create powerful positive affirmations? Here are my 5 tips:


  1. The power of now: Start your affirmation in present tense. Take the action / result you desire and express it like it was already true.

  2. Make it personal: include "I Am" in your affirmation to make it more personal, meaningful and powerful for your subconscious mind.

  3. The rule of 3: You can make affirmations of one sentence. I’ve also found that making short mantras as an affirmation is really really helpful. I am, I am & … comes easly to me!

  4. Commit and repeat: Repetition is key to change our habits. Some books suggest 21 days, but what I advise you is 30 days (minimum) I’ve had affirmations that took me a whole year to repeat until I actually started believing them. You need to remind yourself of your affirmation at least 3 times everyday and if you miss a day with no affirmations then the counter starts over again.

  5. Making connections: Now to really straighten those brain roads that we are trying to build I want you to say your affirmations mentally for 1 min while brushing your teeth at night using your opposite hand. So if you usually brush your teeth using your right hand, for 60 seconds use your left hand and repeat mentally this affirmation.
