When the Body Speaks: A Gentle Approach to Releasing Trauma

There are stories we carry in our bodies that words alone cannot reach.

You might know the feeling: a tension in your jaw you didn’t realise you were clenching. A sudden flood of emotion during a massage. The way your chest tightens when you’re asked how you really are. These aren’t just coincidences, they’re clues. The body, ever faithful, remembers what the mind has tried to forget.

Trauma isn’t always loud or dramatic. Sometimes it’s subtle. Slow. The silent accumulation of times you had to hold it all together. Times you didn’t feel safe to speak. Times you disconnected to protect yourself. Over time, the body starts to hold it for you, like tucking it away in muscles, breath patterns, posture. And bodywork, when offered with intention and care, can become a powerful gateway into those places.

But let me be honest: this work is tender. Trauma doesn’t leave the body all at once. It often unravels in whispers, in waves, in moments where tears surprise you or laughter bubbles up out of nowhere. Sometimes the body says, “Not yet.” Sometimes it says, “Finally.” And it’s never about pushing through or “fixing” ourselves. It’s about meeting ourselves with compassion.

As a facilitator, I don’t rush this process. I don’t believe in pushing through. I approach this work like I would a sacred ritual with softness, curiosity, and deep respect for your timing. Instead, I listen. I honour. I co-create a space where your nervous system can soften, even just a little. Where your body can feel the kind of safety it might not have known before. Where you’re held, not just physically, but energetically and emotionally.

No two bodies are the same, and no two journeys unfold in the same way. The work is intuitive, trauma-aware, and deeply grounded in nervous system safety. It’s about building trust between practitioner and client, yes but most importantly, between you and your own body. Because your body is wise. It knows what it's ready to release and what still needs holding. And when we honour that knowing, the healing that follows is real, gentle, and lasting.

If this speaks to you, if there’s a part of you craving deeper connection, restoration, or simply the space to... ahhhhhhhh ...exhale. I want to invite you to join me for a weekend dedicated to that very nourishing process. 🌿 Wellness Weekend: A Retreat for the Soul

Held in a beautiful forest setting from October 3–5, this retreat is a weaving of somatic practices, compassionate mindset work, women’s circle, singing, ecstatic dance with tea or cacao ceremony, breathwork, barefoot walking, sound baths, journaling, and both dynamic and restorative yoga. It’s a space where the body is deeply honoured. Where nothing is forced. Where you can meet yourself exactly where you are with kindness.
